We were up bright and early to head down to the Vieux Port for 8:30am. There is a "fish market"every morning where restaurant chefs show up to buy the fresh catch of the day.
We then packed up and left Marseille as we had about a 3 hour drive to our villa in Saint-Jeannet.
We decide to stop in Cannes for lurch and check out the sights before meeting up with the Farnham family. There is a main promenade along the Mediterranean Sea with many hotels, shops and restaurants. It was a great place to have lunch and people watch.

Rod's dream car ~ a Lamborghini!! One of many ridiculously expensive cars we saw today. |

The amazing Carlton Hotel |
From Cannes we drove another hour to Saint-Jeannet. Our "home away from home" for the next week. It is a small village nestled in the hills above Nice. We met Benoit our guide, and got somewhat settled. We didn't have much time as we were off to a soccer game in Nice.

Our welcome basket that was here on arrival. Ang and Jeff are going to make eggplant Parmesan tomorrow night for dinner ~ YUM YUM!!! |

The entrance to the "Football" stadium in Nice. |

Nice lost 4-0. It was too bad the hometown team lost, but the atmosphere was still a lot of fun. The fans really support their team and never stop chanting ~ even when they were down by 4 goals. Rod got a great shot of the final goal.
This was the first professional soccer game for all of us except Jeff, and it was certainly a great experience. |
